Swanson Pleads Guilty to One Murder
The Minnesota teen convicted in June for killing a convenience store clerk won't stand trial for the killing of another clerk. Prosecutors say 18-year old Michael Swanson's informed them of his intent to plead guilty to murder and robbery charges in last November's killing of Vicky Bowman-Hall in Algona. He's also expected to ask for immediate sentencing on the plea Thursday afternoon. That morning he'll be sentenced for murder and robbery in the death of Sheila Myers. He faces mandatory life in that case.
Where's Wiggins?

If you know where Wiggins is, call police at 283-4869 or Polk County Crime Stoppers at 223-1400.
US 30 Flood Wall Installation Delayed
The Iowa Department of Transportation says it will delay the installation of a flood wall along parts of U.S. Highway 30. The work closure had been scheduled to begin this morning west of Missouri Valley. The department says flood water is still filling the basin that extends north and south of the highway, but appears to be leveling. Water has stabilized south of the highway, and is only rising slightly to the north. The delay means US 30 is still open for the time being.

Teen Versus Train
A teen who says he'd been drinking at the 80-35 Music Festival was run over by a train Sunday night...and survived. Two Iowa Interstate Railroad engineers spotted Christian Latshaw just as they were traveling over the river bridge, and slammed on the emergency brake. Latshaw had a few cuts, a few bruises, and probably a few criminal trespassing charges, if the railroad has its way.
Kids Health enrollment
Iowans have just over a month to enroll their kids in certain health insurance policies and avoid being discriminated against for pre-existing conditions. Insurance companies can, however, charge a higher premium, based on health status, under the new rules.
