President Obama's named Gov. Branstad as a co-chairman of the Council of Governors. The council was created in 2008 to strengthen cooperation between the federal and state governments on national security issues. According to KCCI, Branstad says he'd work with Iowa National Guard Adjutant General Tim Orr on matters involving homeland security, the National Guard and coordinating emergency responses.
