Disappearing Chip
An Iowa State University professor has developed electronics that
are able to store and send sensitive data, but be destroyed down to
nothing if compromised. The technology can be used in everything from
medical devices that travel inside the body to the military and
intelligence operations. WHO-TV reports the polymer based product is
degradable and environmentally friendly. By adding water the circuit
board starts to dissolve, destroying all sensitive data that was on
it. Eventually, that will also include the specially made casing
surrounding the data chip.
