The West Des Moines school district's going ahead with plans to tear down the 80-year-old barn on the Valley High School campus, despite protests and efforts of a large group of West Des Moines citizens who have dubbed themselves "Friends of Maplenol Barn". They say the district's ignoring their effort to save it. The school district says it needs to remove the barn to provide more green space for Valley students.
