An Iowa soldier injured in Afghanistan has been transferred to a civilian hospital in England now. Cpl. Adam Eilers is in critical but stable condition, according to his mother. She told the Register he was on a military flight to a hospital in Germany when it was diverted to England because of the weather. Eilers and two other Iowa National Guard soldiers were injured on Feb. 21 when insurgents detonated a bomb near their armored vehicle during a combat patrol.
