The Iowa House Ethics Committee's dismissed an ethics complaint against State Rep. Erik Helland, accused of trying to bribe a potential election opponent in the upcoming GOP primary, by offering him two jobs to drop out. The Des Moines Register reports the issue was the bribery statute, which defines a bribe as something offered or given to “a someone who's serving, been elected, selected, appointed, employed, or otherwise engaged to serve in a public capacity…”
