Polk County Supervisors on a 3-2 vote today approved a plan to allow mobile speed cameras on the county's rural roads as early as March. Fines will start at $65 for drivers photographed at more than 1-to-15 mph over the posted speed limit. The Des Moines Register reports a deal still needs to be done with a company to provide several cameras, free of charge, in exchange for a share of the fines.
