Iowa's unemployment rate increased slightly in August to 6.1% from the July's 6%. KCCI reports a year ago it was 6.2%. The head of the state's Workforce Development, Teresa Wahlert, says while the state still has one of the lower jobless rates nationwide, job growth stalled last month because of the same confidence issues being felt across the country. In the last year, Wahlert says the state's recovered 33% of the jobs lost in the Great Recession.
