Iowa’s court's are ramping up their effort to collect fees and fines, by turning to a collection agency. Court Administrator David Boyd tells the Des Moines Register a Kansas City law firm will try to collect fees and fines unpaid for over a year. The state's already toughened a current program requiring county treasurers not to issue car registrations unless residents who owe pay up. Iowa's courts are owed more than half a billion as of the end of June.
