The Iowa State Penitentiary was put on lockdown today after one inmate allegedly stabbed another prisoner in what state officials described as an "isolated, but serious incident." According to the Des Moines Register, a prison spokesperson declined to identify the injured inmate or his attacker. The injured inmate was treated at Fort Madison Community Hospital and has been returned to the prison.
