A state audit's found the volunteer fire department in a small western Iowa town had over $24,000 in questionable spending. The report on the department in Modale found questionable fuel purchases and purchases for vehicles the department didn't own. There were also questions raised about spending on booze and ice, $4600. KCCI reports the audit also found checking and savings account in the department that weren't monitored by the city council.
