Standards grading to replace letters at Waukee Middle School

Letter grades will go away for Waukee Middle School students next fall. Instead of an A, a student may receive an "exceeds status." Other statuses are beginning, developing, and secure. Nationally, more schools are turning to standards-based grades as a way to improve student performance. Other school districts in Iowa, including Des Moines parochial schools, are considering or using some form of standards-based grading.
