Morality clauses are not common in school employees contracts, but one is being considered now in the contract of interim Des Moines schools superintendent Tom Ahart.
Former school superintendent Nancy Sebring embarassed the district when she used her school email account to send and receive sexually explicit messages. That lesson has prompted Iowa city and school officials to consider whether morality clauses should be included as part of their agreement with top public sector executives. Ahart's contract, which includes a clause banning immoral behavior, is scheduled for board approval June 19.
