Johnston residents vote September 11th on a $51 million bond issue to pay for a new 1800 student high school. According to the Des Moines Register, over 1000 residents signed a petition supporting the bond. The Johnston School District wants to spend $122-million on work that includes converting the current high school to serve grades 8 and 9,and turning Johnston Middle into an elementary school. The bond issue needs a 60% majority to pass.
