State Lawmakers May Have Property Tax Compromise

Iowa businesses would see their property taxes drop by about $350-million under a compromise between Democrats and Republicans expected to be released today. We don't have all the details yet, but the Des Moines Register reports businesses would get a 24% cut from the $1.5-billion they pay annually. Apartment owners taxes would see their buildings taxed on half their assessed value.
