Postnuptial Agreements
The Iowa Supreme Court says a 92-year old Belle Plaine, Iowa,
woman can't claim her husband's assets after his death in September
2012 because they had signed a postnuptial agreement in Florida in
1991 waiving rights to one another's property. The court ruled Velma
Hussemann must abide by the agreement even though Iowa doesn't
recognize postnuptial agreements.
