Iowa Homeless Grants

Iowa communities will be getting almost $8-million from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to fight homelessness. According to the Des Moines Register, almost $3-million will be split among homeless programs in Des Moines and West Des Moines. Counts done in January of this year put total homelessness in Des Moines and Polk County was 986, compared to 1,020 last year; with chronic homeless at 110 last year, up to 123 this year.
