Des Moines Metro water use was down yesterday, to 90.6-million gallons of water, but that's still well above the norm of 60-million gallons/day. Des Moines Water Works asked customers Tuesday to cut use by 10% by doing things like taking shorter showers and not watering lawns. Officials tell The Des Moines Register supplies haven’t hit crisis stage yet, but they are developing emergency plans in case things get worse.
