Grimes Sues YMCA For Community Center Fire

The city of Grimes is suing the local YMCA claiming an unattended lit candle led to a February fire that did over $200,000 damage to the city's Community Center at 401 S.E. Main St. According to The Des Moines Register, the candle was in a space at the center leased by the YMCA. The city wants reimbursement for damages from the fire plus interest and whatever else a Polk County judge finds appropriate.
