Officer Injured

A Des Moines police officer and a woman he was helping were hurt in separate accidents on a slick road. The woman's car had been disabled and the officer was giving her a ride when the first accident occurred near Prospect Park yesterday. Another car slid across the center line and hit the officer's patrol car. The woman was taken to a hospital. As the officer and the other driver talked, another car slid toward them. Police say the officer jumped onto the hood of a car and hurt his back.
