Emerald Ash Borer

The emerald ash borer's presence has been confirmed in Jasper County.  Nine counties statewide have been infested by the insect, which destroys ash trees over time.  To slow the spread, a statewide quarantine was issued in February, limiting the movement of hardwood firewood, ash logs, wood chips and ash tree nursery stock out of Iowa into non-quarantined areas of other states.
