Water Works Settlement

The Des Moines Water Works Board of Trustees is voting on whether to accept a $2.1 million settlement from the federal government to resolve a lawsuit over flood repair funding approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and later withdrawn. FEMA approved the $7.6 million in disaster funding in 2010 but rescinded it in 2011 after the Water Works had already spent $2 million.
