A Knoxville teacher and coach accused of sexually abusing a
15-year-old student has resigned. The superintendent of Knoxville
Schools told KCCI that Troy Rider submitted his resignation Monday
night as football coach and PE teacher effective April 1. Rider is
charged with third-degree sexual abuse and sexual exploitation by a
school counselor. He has been on paid leave since the allegations
surfaced. Rider's next court hearing is scheduled for April 18.
