About three dozen people formed a human chain in front of the Federal Building in downtown Des Moines. KCCI reports some of them held signs reading "Don’t cut my Social Security" and "No chained CPI." The demonstrators say a chained CPI would lead to a cut in Social Security benefits. The chained CPI's part of a White House plan to tie cost-of-living increases to the Consumer Price Index.
