Boulder County to Cyclists: Stay Off Flood Damaged Mountain Roads

Boulder County raising its voice and pleading with cyclists to stay off flood-damaged mountain roads.
The Longmont Times-Call reports that county transportation director George Gerstle has temporarily closed several flood-damaged mountain roads to cycling. He's also asked cyclists to limit their bike riding on other roads in the mountains. Gerstle and Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle already had asked motorists, cyclists and hikers to avoid recreational trips through many of the areas west of the foothills.Gerstle said mountain roads can be unsafe while repair work continues. He cited construction equipment and steep drop-offs in washed-out ditches. Gerstle also says there's debris on mountain roadways from recurring rock slides.
