With a new month comes a higher surcharge for prepaid wireless services.
The legislature last session approved an increase of the surcharge covering Enhanced 911 services.
The increase begins on Friday. Anyone from that time on who buys a prepaid phone, service plan or minutes card pays 51 cents per transaction instead of 33.
