Over 1,000 full-time federal technicians with the Iowa National Guard have been recalled to work. They were furloughed when the federal government shut down. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel says the Pay Our Military Act allows the Pentagon to eliminate furloughs for certain employees whose responsibilities contribute to the “morale, well-being, capabilities and readiness of service members.”
