Iowa farmers behind on soybean and corn harvests

Iowa's agriculture secretary says people have harvested 70 percent of soybeans and 35 percent of corn statewide.

Bill Northey's numbers come under the premise that favorable weather has allowed farmers to get into their fields.

The state agricluture department reports the corn harvest 15 percentage points behind normal, and the soybean harvest 11 percentage points behind.

Pasture conditions have also improved with 52 percent rated as fair or better.

The weather statewide allowed fieldwork on 5.4 days last week.
