A bridge connecting Ankeny, Polk City, Grimes and Johnston areas
is about to close for a couple months. According to the DOT, 7,700
vehicles drive the bridge over Saylorville Lake every day. Starting
on March 31, the Mile Long Bridge will be closed. The encouraged
detour runs 16 miles to the south around the reservoir and includes
Lower Beaver Road, Northwest 66th Avenue and 415. If everything goes
as scheduled the Mile Long Bridge will be closed just shy of eight
weeks.
