Cities and landlords are fighting about something that's become known as the occupancy bill. It would allow more than four unrelated people to live in a single-family rental home -- something not allowed by ordinances in most communities int he area. Supporters say it’s meant to make more money for landlords. Iowa’s largest cities are lining up to fight it. Opponents say it could mean less property value for homeowners that might suddenly find themselves flanked by halfway houses or even shelters.
