Govt. Orders Truck Firm to Pay Back Wages and Benefits

The U.S. Labor Department's ordered Contract Transport Inc., of Des Moines, to pay 201 of its driver over $160,000 in back wages and fringe benefits. fleetowner.com reports the department found the company didn't pay some drivers for delay time on trips, but paid them based on predetermined hours. Weather and construction were among the causes for the delays. The company's agreed to train office staff and drivers to properly document their hours.
