Legislature Pushing Higher Tax Break for Scholarship Contributions

The Iowa House has passed and sent to the Senate bill allowing more tax breaks for individuals and companies that donate to scholarships for low-income, private school students. It also raises the tax break cap from the current $8.5 million to $12 million. A state report says over 9,000 students got a scholarship under the program in the 2011-2012 school year.
