80-Iowa National Guard troops have already been activated statewide as 'HAT,' or Highway Assistance Teams. The Des Moines Register reports they'll be out in Humvee's to help disabled drivers across the state. There are 10-HAT teams in all, assigned to Interstates 80, 35, and 380. The guard personnel will be working with Iowa DOT and the State Patrol.
