State Overruled in Same Sex Death Certificate Challenge

A judge's ordered Iowa's Public Health Department to change its' death certificate form to include both names of a same-sex couple. Jessica and Jennifer Buntemeyer sued, because the department removed one of their names from the death certificate of their stillborn baby boy. DPH only allows the registration of up to two parents on a certificate: a mother and a father. The judge found that violates equal protection law.
