The Senate's expected to take up its own version of education reform early next week. The house has approved Gov. Branstad's plan, including higher starting teacher salaries and "career pathways" for teachers. The Des Moines Register reports the democratic plan parts with the Governor's by calling for more money for reform and funding ongoing K-12 school aid at a higher level than the Republican version.
