During a meeting with the NAACP today, Gov. Branstad promised to streamline and improve access for felons who want the right to vote back. In 2005, Gov. Vilsack issued an executive order automating restoration of voting rights, letting thousands of felons who'd served their time vote. Gov. Branstad revoked that, going back to the application process which has seen only a dozen people win back their voting rights since 2011.
