Brandon Singleton was sentenced to three years of probation Thursday. Singleton, a former Des Moines police officer, narrowly avoided a lengthy prison sentence and he received a tongue lashing from the judge about his recommended future behavior.
Singleton was fired in May after officers discovered drugs in his patrol car. He appeared in court Thursday morning to resolve pleas and sentencing for multiple arrests going back to April.
