State Planning Interstate Widening in Council Bluffs

Iowa DOT's planning to widen I-29, 80, and 480 in Council Bluffs because of projected increases in traffic. The plan for I-80 would double it to 12-lanes in the area. According to KCCI department officials say the existing pavement's already at its expected life. Right now 20,000 to 75,000 vehicles/day use the interstates in the area and the numbers are expected to hit 150,000 vehicles/day by 2035.
