Ankeny's City Council has some post election work to do--find a new mayor. Steve Van Oort, the current mayor, will be resigning since he was elected to the Polk County Board of Supervisors last week. He will leave with about a year remaining on his current term. The Des Moines Register reports the council's expected to appoint someone to fill the remainder of Van Oort's term.
