USDA Numbers Predict Higher Beef Costs

Expect to pay more for beef in the coming year. The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported Friday that fewer cattle are arriving on feedlots compared to this time last year. The USDA puts the size of the nation's cattle heard at 92.6 million head--the smallest number since 1958, and the number of cattle slaughtered last year was the lowest number since 1950.
