Passerbys Rescue Woman From Burning Car

Some good news out of Black Hawk County: The sheriff's department there said people passing a cornfield saw a car of fire and rescued the woman inside. Sheriff's officials said Cynthia Bird told them she was heading east on East Orange Road near Waterloo yesterday when she tried to make a U-turn and got stuck in the cornfield. Combustion from the car set some cornstalks on fire and Bird was trapped. People in a car saw what was happening and helped Bird out of the car.
24-year-old Jennifer Glidewell, of Waterloo, and 21-year-old Tony Reinking, of Oelwein get the credit for the rescue.
