51-year old Thomas Kigin of West Des Moines was arrested for misdemeanor assault Saturday night for allegedly assaulting an umpire at a West Des Moines Girls Softball Association game. The Des Moines Register quotes witnesses who sat Kigin appeared to be under the influence at the time, and had an argument earlier with the umpire over the slow pace of the game he was calling.
