Meals From the Heartland is running its fifth annual Hunger Fight this weekend to get meals to starving people, some right here in Des Moines. The Des Moines Register reports 15,000 volunteers will pack 5 million dry meals by tomorrow. Each meal package feeds up to six people, and has rice, textured soy protein, dried vegetables and vitamins.
