Non-Profit CHarges

Raising money is getting expensive. Charity organizations wanting to use Des Moines' popular recreational trails in fund-raiser will now have to pay a price. The city says the 250 dollar charge is an effort to regain the costs that come with events - like heavier toilet use and bigger amounts of trash. Non-profit organizers contend taxpayers already fund the parks and trails and group use doesn't cost the cities anything extra. The are other trails, in other cities in the metro area that don't charge.
