Police to Reach Out, Respond to Latino Resident Concenrs

Some Latinos in Des Moines say that a series of incidents, large and small, have shaken their confidence in law enforcement. The advocacy group Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement and officials with the Des Moines police and the Polk County sheriff’s office will host a public meeting tonight to address the concerns. Some latinos tell the Des Moines Register they are now afraid to call the police, even as a witness or victim, even though they want to be able to trust authorities.
