Gov. Branstad says he thinks the 2013 legislature could back a hike in the state gasoline tax to generate revenue for road projects. Branstad also predicted possible public support for raising the tax by 8-to-10-cents/gallon over three years, if the increase is tied to lower property and income taxes. The gas tax hike was floated last year, but went nowhere.
