Iowa National Guard announced that for the second time in a week, one of their soldiers has been killed by an insurgent's bomb in Afghanistan. The latest casualty was 21-year old Spc. Donald Nichols of Shell Rock. Another soldier, 24-year old Spc. Timothy Gourd of Prescott, was injured in the same attack Wednesday morning. It was announced last week that 31-year old Spc. Brent Maher of Honey Creek died when his armored truck was hit by a bomb. Three others were injured in that attack.
