If you see flags at half-staff this weekend, it's to honor two Iowa National Guard soldiers who were killed in Afghanistan. Gov. Terry Branstad ordered the flags to be lowered through Monday. A memorial service for Sgt. Brent Maher, 31, of Honey Creek is set for today in Council Bluffs. He died April 11 when a bomb exploded under his armored truck. Spc. Donald Nichols, 21, of Shell Rock was killed in a similar attack April 13. A memorial service will be Saturday in Waverly.
