The Salisbury House is getting a $400,000 renovation, funded by federal and state grants. The late Des Moines pharmacist Carl Weeks built the mansion in the 1920's after amassing a fortune in the cosmetics industry. Chemical solutions are being applied to the walls to give them a good cleaning and to help preserve them. The mansion is open for tours Tuesday through Sunday.
