The 25-mile, $14.7 million High Trestle Trail officially opens Saturday. It has one of the largest pedestrian bridges in the world: a half-mile long and 13 stories high. The celebration will feature events in each of the five trail towns - Ankeny, Madrid, Sheldahl, Slater and Woodward. Ankeny's events kick off with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. at Fire Station 1, 120 N.W. Ash Drive. The official Ankeny trail dedication and ribbon-cutting event will be at 11 a.m.
